Hello!
Hope you had a lovely Christmas - hope it was better than ours…. We had a house full of bugs so although we managed Christmas Day, by Christmas night Gav and Toby were feeling awful and Boxing Day at ours for 12 of us was cancelled by 8.30am after a terrible night of high temperatures, shivers, sweats and general fever related poorliness. What a total BUMMER - must admit we were all gutted. I know we weren’t the only ones but it’s an absolute OUTRAGE that there isn’t a law against Christmas being ruined by a blaaaady BUG. We have rearranged for Easter Sunday - trying to coordinate everyone takes some doing, so Easter Sunday it will be! Wondering if we will be able to get a turkey and if Secret Santa might send a rabbit shaped undercover agent instead?

Never even got to wear the fancy frock I bought for Boxing Day. Sad times eh.
Anyway, all of that aside, I had no clue what the day is (as is normal for the in betweeny bit) and I have just arrived at the somewhat surprising realisation that it appears to be Saturday afternoon and this post needs to be written, so when it arrives in your inbox you will remember that it is Sunday. Haha!
I don’t know about you, but the day after Boxing Day, is what I call the SACRED DAY OF NOTHING. It’s a day I really look forward to and this year I actually got a PB (personal best) in the sofa department. In fact I EXCELLED myself and watched 5 films. FIVE. It’s unheard of. Ate a whole chocolate orange too and didn’t so much as bat an eyelid.
Films - should you require the play list
BEACHES - tbh it was only me that enjoyed it. The family dissipated to the kitchen to carry on with the important duty of trying to complete the Christmas puzzle. I, on the other hand sang every song on muscle memory because back in the day, I had the album and played it so often {on my tower stereo, which was the size of a modern day fridge} I knew all the words to all the songs, & even, to this day, Otto Titsling word for word - a fact I am very proud of lol (fam remained disappointingly unimpressed)
PLANE - V good action thriller with Gerard Butler.
GHOST - still can’t believe Patrick Swayze is dead. Remain devastated about this fact.
JUMANGI - Jack Black - BRILLIANT. Old but good
OFFICIAL SECRETS - a true story - Keira Knightly stars as Katherine Gun, a GCHQ analyst who exposed the illegal invasion of Iraq. Quite the eye opener and a really good film with an excellent cast. Voldemort was in it. (well, you know)
This year, unlike previous years, our plans have changed and we are not dashing down to Cornwall for NYE- only because we don’t have a complete bathroom atm - the windowless room of doom is undergoing a total transformation, and at the moment the loo is in a bedroom, and the sink is on the landing, so its not very practical, I do not recommend haha.
This was as it was all being taken out. A spa bath that we had never used as it was SO gross
aaaaaand, if you fancy sneak peep of the progress… don’t tell anyone as I want to do a big reveal, but here’s a (terrible) photo of the tiles so far…. ( I LOVE them so much!!)
Must admit I don’t mind not going yet, as G isn’t back to his normal self yet, and it means we don’t have to rush to get the decorations down. It’s quite nice not to have to rush about tbh.
It IS however, extremely dangerous, as I have had time, during my festive slump, to scroll - and may or may not have ordered a couple of bits in the sales. (Which will inevitably lead to a major wardrobe clear out and a Vinted session. Makes me weary just thinking about it. Will worry about that next year)
Things that have fallen in to my basket…
1. A steal at £16 - I LOVE a stripe. Especially a fancy stripe.
Half price and the perfect colour and chunkiness - to wear with wide jeans or a skirt and tights
Half price - excellent taffeta skirt linked here
I have this skirt already and it is GORGEOUS. It has pockets, an elasticated bit at the back of the waistband and is beautifully ‘sticky-outy’ giving a lovely shape when you wear it. I know I have linked this before but every time I link it, it proves VERY popular and I have never seen it at such a low price.
As usual, I have been awaiting The White Company sale and have ‘stocked up’. I have a brand new favourite and I am obsessed. It started with the fragrance oil that I bought for the Neom, Well Being Pod Which is also on sale - I doubt either brand would recommend using the other, but it works for me!
Currently ‘MYRRH’ fragrance oil is only available in store, but the botanical candle, which I think is excellent value if you fancy a snazzy candle, is on sale and smells GORGEOUS. Especially if you are fed up with the Christmas fragrances and are ready to freshen up for the new year.
Linked Here. Smells utterly amazing
Finally, incase you are after a nice mirror - the one that went viral on John Lewis, that was in and out of stock all Summer, is now in stock and on sale
Here is is in our downstairs loo - linked for you
That’s about it for today!
I hope you have lovely NYE plans. Don’t tell the others but I am not a NYE fan. Gav and I are planning on being deserted by the boys and will be staying home with a fancy fish platter from M&S, watching the fireworks on the telly and being utterly old and boring. Haha. New Year’s Day will consist of utter carnage as the house will be pulled apart, decorations put away and I will marvel at how empty it all looks and panic that I need daffodils and tulips immediately. Obvs.
It’s a funny old time really, as we are coming up to the date when Gav was first diagnosed and this year will be quite a milestone. I might chat more about that next week. It is also 8 years ago today that we lost my Dad to Parkinson’s and Dementia. So I always feel a bit weird this time of year and tend to go a bit quiet on IG. Lots of ideas but can’t quite post as usual. Normal daft service will resume soon though.
Gawd, sorry! Now I have utterly depressed everyone, I shall crawl back under my stone (the corner bit of the sofa with a Bailys and a blanket so it’s all good) and wish you all a very happy and peaceful new year!
Thankyou as always for being here.
See you on the other side!
With Love

Thank you for the day of the week reminder Sally 🥰 I'm not a fan of NYE either. I'm just going to have a quiet evening and hope the new year just lets itself in with no major dramas 🫣
Love to you and your family Sally and I hope Gav and Toby are feeling better soon xx
Glad Gav and Toby are on the mend. If it’s any help I got a turkey crown from M&S yesterday reduced from £80 to £40. Didn’t need it but I’ve put it in the freezer and thought it would be nice to have in a few months time as we all love Christmas dinner ðŸ¤ðŸ˜‚
