How many pitchers does a girl need…asking for a friend…2
I think most cupboards have a sturdy plastic jug lurking at the back, waiting for its time to shine. Waiting for that day in Summer when it’s THE day to make a Pimms and suddenly that jug is top of the list of things to dig out and wash out. Shoved in the back since a child’s party and forgotten about. The sturdy unbreakable workhorse.
Practical of course, but where is the JOY? I absolutely LOVE a big jug. Vintage, new, ceramic, glass, enamel, they are SO useful. Yes I grant you, quite large to store but they make excellent vases… which is how I totally justify having more than one. Quite a few more than one.
So I thought this week - seeing as Summer is on its way (surely it is on its way?? let’s think positively haha) I thought I would share some very nice jugs with you, that caught my eye and are very pleasing indeed. Joy bringers in jug form.
Vessels of domestic delight, in an astonishing array of shapes, sizes and styles, to bring an extra layer of ‘fancy’ to your table.
In no particular order, as they are ALL gorgeous and I couldn’t possibly pick a favourite, here we go! (lies… the Wild Card is my favourite but don’t tell the others)
Very cute glass pitcher with a little fish inside- from Fenwick Little fish glass pitcher linked here
2. How fantastically fancy is this one from Anthropologie. A surprise discount box pops up - mine was 10% Anthro jug of dreams linked here (this one would look equally gorgeous with flowers as a vase (mainly just justifying it to myself at this point!)
3. I love this one - good price point too I thought. Stainless steel - available in 6 colours and lots of matching pieces. Looks very interesting! Would it be tricky to pour from? The jury is out, but isn’t it lovely.
4. Something fruity next, from Liberty. Strawberry pitcher linked here (now I am looking at it, does is have a hint of bedpan about it. Oh GODDDDD haha I cannot unsee it. But hey, it’s a fancy one AND multi use haha)
Ok let’s try again! more fruitiness linked here
6. I am huge fan of pressed glass and there are plenty of beauties on the internet, but this one from Wilko looks like an absolute STEAL UNDER £10 linked here
6. Next I found a gorgeous, classy and simple affair - under the category ‘carafe’. I would expect nothing less.
The White Company Carafe linked here
And now for the WILD CARD …
Goodness me! I spotted this absolute beauty when I was researching for the post - and when I went back in today to get the link, I found that it is ON SALE! I ordered it immediately (not daft, me) OKA cabbage jug linked here and it's a bargain *run don’t walk haha
And that concludes today’s post about the humble jug, the fancy pitcher and the even fancier carafe. Perfect for Summer and very happy when adorned with fruit and mint leaves happily bobbing around.
Which one do you like best? Do we need them all? How many is too many?
Right! I shall be back next week with who knows what!
As ever, thanks for reading today’s Carte Blanche Edit, enjoy your Sunday!
Love
