10 Items of Excellence for RIGHT NOW
A Liberty steal, a fabulous perfume find, jugs, bowls, that skort (again) and other things I love that I think you might love too and a good old chat about the week.
Good morning! Welcome to our Sunday meeting. Hope everyone has had a peaceful week. I was wondering what we should chat about this week and this post kind of just came out and typed itself. It’s a list of 10 excellent things - stuff I love, and stuff that caught my eye, and stuff I needed to buy IMMEDIATELY and checked out quicker than a whippet on speed. There are some REALLY good bits in here, but if you are here for a chat and a catch up, scroll to the end. This week and been so busy I am tired just reading it haha - anyway, in no particular order let’s go!
This, you have seen before but it is SO good it needs another mention here
THE SKORT. I live in this and I will also wear it with tights and a jumper in the winter. I am a 12, and I applied the theory I use for shorts in that I size up. So this is a Large. It’s loose and I like it like that. HERE IS THE LINK - highly recommend, especially if you are hesitant on how you feel in shorts or a short denim skirt. Worth a whirl for sure.
THE FIT FLOPS (above) I walked at least 10k steps a day in them, all terrain and the absolute DREAM. This colour way is out of stock in a couple of sizes but you can sign up for an email alert, or they also do them in neutral and black. HERE IS THE LINK I genuinely cannot recommend them enough - if you use SHARE15 you will get 15% discount.
I was minding my own business listening to the radio, when I heard them chatting about this perfume. I, like many of us LOVE the smell of Nivea sun so to find it in an actual fragrance was like stumbling across the holy grail. Ordered IMMEDIATELY and it is delicious HERE IS YOUR LINK if you are after a no brainer, light, holiday fragrance then I promise this is the one. Excellent price too.
Beautiful napkins for the alfresco hosting … at a really good price point too. I am such a sucker for a nice napkin and I have got to the stage of actually letting people use them. These things are to be used after all. And anyway if they ruin there’s always more to replace them.
I have been searching for a fruit bowl that doesn’t cost the earth (sorry Mrs Alice but £74 for a bowl is not the one) and here she is !
UNDER £25 and looking much more ££
Now, if you aren’t keen on colour, this lemon jug also comes in a very classy white. I can’t actually decide as I love them both! GAH
OK, so you know I said there were a couple of things I bought quicker than a whippet? This is one of them (along with the Nivea fragrance)
I KNOW it looks a little extravagant, but in all honesty I have been hounded daily by Trinny on social media talking about The Elevator - her neck cream that actually seems to work, plus I totally trust she is not about to sell me some old rubbish. I was holding back because I also wanted to try the eye cream and her plump up face cream. The Elevator alone is £68. SO when I spotted her new edit with Liberty I was ON IT and it’s like she knew - all the bits I want to try are there INCLUDING the Elevator and they are full size. Here’s what is in the Liberty print bag
The bath oil is probably the only thing I don’t think I am that bothered about but the price point for everything is so good, not exactly a bargain as such, but a total deal on what I was going to pay - ie- the Plump Up in this size retails at £72, The Elevator £68 and the eye cream is £65 and that makes a grand total of £205 for the bits I was holding back on. And I got all of it and more for £140. Actually I signed up for emails, used the code and got it for £119 (NOW it is a bargain) and it is freepost so def do that if you want one!! It has been despatched and I CANNOT WAIT!!
HERE IS YOUR LINK - run don’t walk haha
OK back down to earth with a bump now because we are talking frying pans (and saucepans but mainly frying pans) SO, we took these away with us, they take up less room because the handle is detachable. It clips on and off meaning no handles sticking out all over the place in our tiny cupboard. But hold on a minute - our pan drawer at home is horrific because of all the handled items that don’t ‘nest’ together - is this ringing bells with you?
Not only space saving - but multi tasking- the detachable handle means you can finish the cooking in the oven, under the grill, no risk of burning yourself on a hot handle either AND store leftovers in the fridge easily and that handle is SOLID (supporting up to 10kgs) The pans are better than the ones we bought at great expense a year or so ago (annoyingly)
This is the set of pans we bought and then we added to it with a couple of saucepans - French hyper-markets sell them individually so we picked them up there HERE IS YOUR LINK have a delve as there are other brands and colours - these are really good though.
I have been on a bit of a necklace mission lately and on my scroll I spotted John Lewis have some ace deals - the one I bought has gone out of stock, but I spotted a very very close contender and it is in the sale. It would make a lovely gift if you could bear to part with it.
REDUCED TO CLEAR - HERE IS YOUR LINK
If you are off to Wimbledon I have found you a selection of PERFECT items (linked to them all so you can choose from tops or dresses all with the same theme) There’s also a lovely blouse but it wouldn’t fit in the photo - anyway - perfection!
HERE IS THE LINK TO ALL THINGS TENNIS THEMED at various price points - incidentally there is a fab sale on too.
And there we have it - 10 ‘emergency’ items which you most probably didn’t know you needed until just then - same same - I stumble on this stuff and take it as my civil duty to check it all out first haha.
This week I honestly don’t know if I am coming or going - you may have seen we had a new lounge carpet fitted - which involved ALOT of furniture shuffling - there is no one more committed than a woman shuffling furniture is there haha - Anyway it is fab and all furniture has been duly shuffled so I am VERY happy.
Tuesday was our 30th wedding anniversary (will celebrate properly at some point but on the other hand we did just have 5 weeks in France so I am not complaining) and we headed off to Cornwall to finalise some stuff with our brilliant builder, the plan was to arrive early evening and take the French champagne that we squirreled away in the van, to the beach for sunset, but in the end it was all so rushed we grabbed a super quick chippy tea and collapsed on the sofa - the sunset was rubbish and it was a bit mizzley so we didn’t feel too cheated - it was a very fleeting visit and we cannot wait to get back because it is starting to really come together, it is SO exciting!! I might share a mood board of the bathroom next week and we can get back to interiors because I have missed chatting interiors to you! Would you like a preview of the bathroom before it is finished? I never know if people prefer a big reveal at the end or to see what’s going on as it happens.
Then Friday at sparrow’s fart, we headed back up the 303, it was MAMMOTH What usually takes 4.5 hours give or take, took over SIX hours. Usually it wouldn’t matter but we were racing because we had to drop the dawg at home and hot foot straight to Bournemouth via a quick drop in Southampton (don’t ask, it was long and hot and we were both totally over geography by this point) where our youngest, who’s just finished his degree in design, had a Design Show and we desperately wanted to be there to see it all and we took him out to dinner to celebrate!
I cannot believe our youngest has finished uni!! Incidentally, if you have a son or daughter at uni/off to uni, you are very welcome to join my FB group UNI MUMS AND DADS - a community of thousands of parents and a hive of activity and support, help, info, and general camaraderie. It is private group but I am pretty fast at accepting the requests.
We visited one of his favourite shops in Bournemouth, it’s called The Crooked Book (which sounds like something out of Harry Potter doesn’t it) It is a fabulous old shop, with it’s vintage contents spilling out on to the pavement, selling books, ofc, but it also has many many dusty shelves heaving with (what Gav or anyone with an untutored eye might mistakenly call ‘RustyShit’) what Tobes and I call TREASURE. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree ha! From old brown furniture to vintage Angle Poise lamps (Tobes snagged one last time and it’s a PEACH) This time his eagle eye spotted an old piano stool. We have been keeping our eyes peeled for one for ages and this was perfect! I stopped myself from buying up all the vintage buckets out the front - they were £8 each - that’s cheaper than the trade day at Ardingly!! GAH . We don’t actually need more buckets but that was hardly the point and it was very tempting for a hot second. Gav, the voice of doom reason, reminded me we already have a collection of them in the shed. DAMNIT.
Me and Tobes both loved the 1970s table with 4 chairs - £125 what an absolute STEAL.

ANYWAY
We are spending the morning packing all his uni stuff . *Not all. The pots and pans and other random kitchen items are being A) bequeathed to the next tenants or B) binned bc they look like they have a nuclear half life. I have brought the hoover with me so I can hoover the carpets for the first and last time in the whole year. The boys have what I call ‘an ornamental hoover’ which languishes on their landing but no one uses it because it has no suck and blows out an odour akin to a wet dog at low tide. BLEURGH. To give them their due, they are a great bunch of boys and the house is pretty clean, but the carpets are bothering me. Toby pointed out a slug highway in the hall, the trails back and forth glistening in the half light and it almost pushed me over the edge.
We are loading up the van and finally heading home. End of an era! Honestly though I feel like we have been so busy this week, all over the place and everywhere all at once, we are in danger of 'meeting ourselves coming back’ as my dear old Nan would have said.
I have got a really exciting meeting in London tomorrow (blood cancer charity related) and it looks like it will be 34 degrees out in the sticks, which means London town and the underground will be hotter than the surface of the actual sun. What on earth to wear?? I have placed an emergency Next order, so fingers crossed something is suitable. OBVIOUSLY I have a wardrobe full of stuff but absolutely NOTHING to wear. Goes without saying. HA
ANYWAY! That’s it from me today, I will be back next week with a peep of everything going on in Cornwall - I bought a vanity from Dunelm which needs painting, new handles and a glow up.
It’s nice as it is, but I have PLANSSSS, typically it's half price now (rolls eyes) so I might be able to show you that too.
I cannot wait to show you the tiles we chose. As usual I thought I’d go neutral but accidentally went in the complete opposite direction, like the actual polar opposite…No matter how much I think I’ll channel the White Company, it never happens because I fall in love with colour. EEEKK I hope it all comes together!! We have moved a wall, a doorway and taken out a cupboard an have miraculously found room for a bath! More on that another day.
Oooh Oooh and I have a really exciting post to write for a big high street brand that asked me if I would and I was so excited I almost fell over haha. I always promised I would never put our Sunday meeting behind a paywall, so if I can do a sponsored post here and there, well, that allows me to carry on as we are, plus it is a gorgeous brand and I know you will absolutely love the styling! There’s so much to show you & I am absolutely buzzing to share all the inspo. I always say if I turn in to my own customer and get all sparkly about something, that is a biiiig green light for GO and I can’t wait to get cracking. PLUS it’s a peep of a space in Cornwall that I haven’t shown you yet. Heehee! Watch this space 😎
Right! I have rabbited enough, so I will sign off & leave you to your Sundays. Have a super day & I’ll be back next week!
As always, thanks so much for being here, I really love our little community over here.
Love
Sally xxxx
The Sunday Edit is free to read and always will be. I use affiliate links where I can to help keep it that way :) Thank you and byeeeee! xx
I was transported back to moving my son out of his end of Covid Uni house (in Guildford!) - two of his housemates had gone home (Abroad’) due to Covid and just left everything behind - the beds looked like they had just got up! We found a bag of human hair in the wardrobe 🤮I would have welcomed an ornamental hoover 🤣
Blimey Sal I feel exhausted just reading this! Can’t wait for all the exciting developments, always love your interiors posts (although my bank manager definitely won’t!) 🤣xx
